Chris has always been involved with dance, first performing at the age of two and turning professional at sixteen performing in pantomimes and summer seasons with top names. She then joined the trio Young Love composed of two girls and one boy. By joining this trio she was able to travel and perform all over the world, in places such as Greece, Iceland, the Far East, Cyprus and the Falklands, where they were one of the first acts down there after the conflict, and had to fly down their by Hercules Air Carrier. Whilst in the Falklands they performed in front of H R H Prince Andrew. They also went to Beirut where they performed with Jim Davidson at the British Peace Keeping Camp, and for this they were awarded a certificate of bravery for being on the front line. In this country Young Love performed at top venues such as Batley Variety Club, Lakeside Country Club, Blackpool Opera House and the Futurist Theatre in Scarborough, with stars Bobby Davro, Cilla Black, Cannon and Ball. The Grumbleweeds, Little and Large, Keith Harris, Shane Ritchie and Brian Connolly. More recently she has appeared as a judge and choreographer on the Yorkshire TV show searching for a new Black Lace.
Chris Beaumont School of Dance opened in 1987 at Birstall Community Centre and has run successfully ever since. Chris Beaumont’s qualifications include, IDTA LBT. LMJ. T. TC and is a Championship Adjudicator for the Association of Dance and Freestyle Professionals.
Pupils at the school have gone into the business as professional dancers, singers and performers appearing in shows such as Les Miserables at Bradford Alhambra and Manchester Opera House, Oliver at the London Palladium, cruise liners and performing in their own groups and become recording artistes. Various pupils have been accepted at Phil Winstons Theatreworks in Blackpool.
On the Freestyle side of the dance school, we take part at the Yorkshire Championships, which is open nationwide, many pupils have received championship status as well as being awarded with the title of Yorkshire Open Winner. This is a massive accomplishment. The Yorkshire Championship is of a very high standard, and last year we came home with over 60 Trophies. Pupils are trained from Beginner through to Championship Level, and attend competitions up and down the country.
Chris Beaumont School of Dance provides classes in all the main core theatre subjects for Girls, Boys and Adults.
